Vanessa Patitucci — Biography

Vanessa Patitucci is an Italian contemporary artist whose work explores the psychological and emotional dimension of the human figure. Her research moves between abstraction and figurative expressionism, investigating identity, perception, and the fragile tension between beauty and distortion.

Working primarily with oil painting, Patitucci develops layered surfaces where gesture, color, and material become instruments to reveal inner states rather than external appearances. Her process is instinctive and physical: the image gradually emerges through spontaneous marks, drips, and painterly interventions that preserve the immediacy of the creative act.

In her works, faces and bodies often appear fragmented, multiplied, or altered, reflecting the instability of self-perception and the complexity of human emotion. These distortions do not aim to deform reality, but to expose its psychological depth. The painted surface becomes a space where vulnerability and strength, harmony and tension coexist.

Her first institutional solo exhibition, Fragile, was presented at Palazzo Valentini in Rome and received media coverage from ANSA, one of Italy’s leading press agencies.

Through an instinctive and emotionally driven practice, Patitucci continues to explore the human condition, creating images that exist at the threshold between intimacy, distortion, and inner truth.
