Vanessa Patitucci brings Bellis Perennis to Vienna
There are cities that host art.And then there are cities that absorb it quietly, allowing it to become part of their atmosphere.

Vienna was one of them.
“Bloom in Vienna” was not simply an exhibition, but a moment of transition — an intimate encounter between fragility and presence, between silence and emotional exposure. At the center of the exhibition stood Bellis Perennis, one of Vanessa Patitucci’s most recognizable works, presented inside a dark and immersive setting where the painting seemed to emerge directly from the shadows.
The work explores vulnerability through distortion, contrast and softness. The gaze is intense, almost unsettling, yet interrupted by a delicate flower placed over the mouth: a daisy, symbol of innocence, silence and resistance. The title itself, Bellis Perennis, references the perennial daisy — a flower capable of returning, blooming again despite seasons, cold and disruption.
Throughout the evening, visitors moved through the space slowly, almost cautiously, drawn into the emotional tension of the piece. The atmosphere of Vienna amplified everything: the dim lights, the muted conversations, the sensation of intimacy surrounding the work.
For Vanessa, this exhibition represented more than an international appearance. It marked another step in the evolution of her artistic language — one that continues to investigate identity, fragility, femininity and emotional fracture through layered portraiture and raw expression.
“Bloom in Vienna” became exactly what its name suggested:a quiet bloom happening far from home, in a city suspended between elegance and melancholy.
The exhibition also opened new dialogues around Vanessa Patitucci’s future artistic presence within the European contemporary art scene, reinforcing the connection between her visual language and the emotional response it evokes in viewers.
Some flowers do not bloom in sunlight. Some bloom in darkness.
